Riverfire 2008!

Riverfire almost didn't even rate in our lives this year... very sad! We hadn't talked about it, hadn't had time to think about it. I was out most of the day doing a shoot and some preparation for a future wedding and got home to the girls saying that they wanted to go. So Dam piled us all into the car and we drove to his work on Coro drive and made it about 1/2 an hour before it all started. Unfortunately we had to watch behind the glass windows and that's also how I shot and tripodless these are the results:

This was a bit of a long exposure... the fireworks look a bit smudged but the thing I love about this pic is the reflection on the building just right of centre. Every time the fireworks errupted over at southbank it would look awesome on that building!

The love heart fireworks... very cute.

Next year we are going to make a big effort to plan and get to a great location to make it more exciting for the kids and so I can get some more shots!

Have a great day!

Cows, Monster Trucks, Rides and Woodchoppers... It must be the Ekka!

Not to mention DAGWOOD DOGS, chickens, SPEED CROSS RACERS, hay, HORSES, ducks, COFFEE, clowns, SHOWBAGS, rides, ford vs holden rivalry, PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITS, more food, MORE COFFEE, more showbags, LAUGHTER, occasional tears, SCREAMING, big smiles, AND OF COURSE: GLOW SWORDS.

Well we may not have done it all but we sure tried! It was Ekka Monday! We had such an awesome time, we got there around 9 am and stayed until nearly 9 pm! We went and saw two lots of Woodchopping including the Tree Felling which is always exciting to watch... how do they stay up there on those planks? We went and trod on some pre-flattened cow paddies and checked out the gorgeous cows and horses and then through to the baby animal farm which we had a quick look at, a bit too crowded.

Then we checked out the Bird and Poultry area and we spent quite a bit of time in there because we are planning on having our own chickens soon! So we looked at all types of chickens and i'm sure each one of us has a different idea of what type of chicken we want for our back yard!

We had a bite to eat, and headed for some rides and later some show bags before taking a seat back at Machinery Hill with my friend Julia and her folks to watch the night's entertainment! Loads of Fun!
