Five Minutes of Floor Room - Ballroom Dancing - 2008

Like the heading suggests, I wanted to finally show you some of my favourite images from my Major Folio for 2008 which was a photo documentary on Ballroom Dancing entitled: "Five Minutes of Floor Room". This refers to the amount of effort, skill and preparation that goes into the Dancer's time on the competition dance floor which is on average 5 minutes. There's a lot more images (40) but here's the ones i'm especially proud of.

The idea for my folio was to have all (or most) of the preparation images in B&W and in contrast to have all of the competition images in bright colours.

Wedding - Kiru & Rohan! Part 2

Kiru & Rohan celebrated their civil ceremony in Kiru's parent's lovely gardens. It was a small and intimate ceremony. I had a lot of fun getting some portraits of Kiru before the ceremony as there was plenty of time on this week. Kiru to me (and as you can see below) is such a beautiful woman (inside and out Kiru!). Its been such an honour getting to know you and Rohan and I have to mention your lovely family again (!) for making me feel a part of the family.

Wedding - Kiru & Rohan! Part 1

I thought it was about time I posted this wedding! Kiru & Rohan were married over two weeks with a Hindu ceremony and a Civil ceremony. The first week was the beautiful Hindu ceremony which as the priest explained was shortened in terms of a cricket match down from a test match to a 20/20 to a 10/10 (if there was such a match) to keep the ceremony "short" (down to 1 hour). I have to say, I found the ceremony fascinating with so many intricate details and steps involved. Kiru looked gorgeous in her beautiful Sari that she was carefully dressed in and of course Rohan was very handsome! From the moment I sat down at Kiru's parent's kitchen table to discuss their wedding I felt a part of the family. Thank you Kiru & Rohan for letting me be involved in your special day and thank you to your families for being so welcoming!












There were many things that Kiru & Rohan had to do during the ceremony including eat different substances to cleanse their bodies in preparation for the rest of the ceremony.

In this part of the ceremony Kiru had to walk in front of Rohan 3 times around the shrine. On the fourth and final time around (see below) Rohan has to walk in front of Kiru.





The priest was particularly hilarious...
